Who Doesn’t Love the Circus?
Like the title says, who doesn’t love the circus? Well, honestly…I don’t (Clowns are creepy AF!). But when Philip Astley started the first modern “circus” in 1768 (yes, I googled that), I don’t think he knew it would evolve into what we know today. I won’t go into the full history of the circus because, to be honest, I stopped googling after that first fact. So when we heard the very successful Hyde Circus was shutting down in a couple of weeks after 100+ years I (and some of my fellow Escape Junkies) felt compelled to find out why. Apparently, our reputation for problem-solving had preceded us, because when we arrived, we were immediately hired to investigate where the missing money was going. In the immortal words of Barney Stinson of HIMYM fame, “Challenge Accepted!”
60OUT immerses you in the world of circus performers, from magic to monster, and from beasts to the bizarre. The set was well put together from room to room, taking you behind the scenes of how the performers lived outside of the “big top.” The puzzles were well thought out and there were a few we hadn’t seen before. We even got to perform a little “magic” on Escape Junkie Montez.
The Not So Good
We did this room with five people which, again because our affinity for problem-solving, made the room go very fast. I’m not saying we set records or anything (well we feel like we kinda did based on the one whiteboard…), but the ending was a little abrupt and left us wanting more. In one part of the room, I also felt it was incredibly loud. It didn’t take away from my overall experience…I’m just old.
Like I said before, we did this room with five people (the max is 6). We employed a divide and conquer method for most of the room, but even smaller groups should have plenty of success. I feel like this would be a great room for the new enthusiasts out there to get their feet wet in the escape game world. While the puzzles were a little on the easy side, I enjoyed the experience. We look forward to conquering the many other rooms that 60OUT offers. 5/5
